With recruitment at domestic cleaning agency Absolute Domestics ongoing, director Jude Scott estimates the company will hire 100-200 new casual cleaners throughout Melbourne before the end of the year.

"My business is only limited by the number of cleaners I can recruit," she says. "In other words, on the eastern side of town we can never fill all jobs as we never have enough good, long-term cleaners."

Those who want to work at Absolute Domestics should be familiar with the work that the company's employees do: the cleaning, washing, ironing and general housework that people do to keep their homes in order every day.

"They must know how to clean a home and have proven experience doing so," MsScott says. "For parents returning to the workforce, this experience can be in their own homes."

Casual cleaners make $20-$40 an hour and the average job takes three to four hours to complete - employees are expected to make themselves available for at least four jobs a week. The company is interested in semi-retired people, part-time students, mums eager to work school hours and others looking to supplement their income. One of the perks of the job

is that employees can choose the hours that suit their lifestyle.

"Obviously, their phone presentation at the first phone call is really important as the phone will also be the first contact our cleaners will have with our clients," Ms Scott adds. -- JOSH JENNINGS
